TIPS ON EFFECTIVE
JOB HUNTING

1.Choosing the company you want to apply in.
Determine your desired job, salary, working hours and other working conditions.

2.Calling the company you are applying in
Create a good impression right at the start. Observe phone etiquette. Try to use Keigo (polite Japanese). Before calling,  decide the interview date and get ready with a pen and paper.  Avoid calling from a noisy place.

 

How to call in Japanese

  • Applicant

    PinoyJob de onsha no kyujinkokoku wo mimashita  (your name) to moushimasu. Tantousha sama (name of person in charge if mentioned) onegai shimasu.
    I saw your web recruitment ad in PinoyJob. May I speak to (person in charge)?

  • Company

    Omachi kudasai
    Please hold on for a second.

The person in charge is now on the line.

  • Applicant

    "Your name" to moushimasu. PinoyJob no kyujinkokoku ni notteiru onsha no  shigoto ni oubo shitainode odenwa shimashita.
    My name is ****. I would like to apply for the job you advertised in PinoyJob.

  • Company

    Odenwa arigatou gozaimasu. Mensetsunohi wa *** de yoroshii desu ka?
    Thank you for calling. Could you come for an interview on *** ?

  • Applicant

    Hai.***ni oukagai shimasu. Yoroshiku onegai shaimasu.

3.How to fill in your resume
It is recommended to fill in your resume in Japanese (at least in HIRAGANA).  However, you might find it difficult to write it in Japanese so PinoyJob gives  a good example of a resume. Please refer to the example.

SOCIAL INSURANCE

Q: What is Japan's SOCIAL INSURANCE?
Social Insurance makes up four types of insurance  -- Health Insurance, Social Pension, Nursing Insurance and Children Upbringing.   

Japan's SOCIAL INSURANCE

Q: I am working part-time in a Japanese company.
  Do I need to enroll to get a Social Insurance?

If your working hours and working days amount to approximately three-fourths  or more of those full-time employees of the same workplace,  it is compulsory to enroll in the Social Insurance regardless of nationality.

Q: What are the benefits of social insurance?

Employees' Health Insurance Benefits

When you receive medical treatment for sickness or injury
When you become sick or injured due to non-occupational causes, you can receive medical treatment  at hospitals or clinics by co-paying only 30% of the medical cost.

In case of absence from work due to sickness or injury
If you have to take a leave from work due to sickness or injury and receive no or  little salary for the period of absence, you can receive financial assistance  if you meet certain requirements.

In case of childbirth
If you or your dependent family members give birth to a child, you can receive 350,000 yen per child.

In case of death
In case of your death, the survivor's pension will be paid to your bereaved family.

Employees' Pension Insurance Benefits

When you reach old age
If you become disabled due to sickness or injury for which you first sought medical treatment  during the period of coverage, you can receive the disability pension or disability allowance.

In case of disability
If you become disabled due to sickness or injury for which you first sought medical treatment during the period of coverage, you can receive the disability pension or disability allowance.

In case of returning to home country during the period coverage
When foreign nationals on a short-term stay in Japan who have been covered under the employees' Pension  Insurance system for at least six months depart from Japan without receiving any pension benefits,  they can receive lump sum payments according to the length of the period year cover.  The lump sum payments must be claimed within two years following their departure in Japan.

THE WORKING RULES
  IN JAPAN

THE PROPER WAY TO LEAVE
●It is a standard operating procedure to give resignation notice  at least 30 days before you leave the company.  Before deciding to resign, think carefully if you made the right decision.  DON' RESIGN ON A WHIM.
●State the reason why you are resigning in the company  but do not say anything against the company, your boss and fellow employees.
●Learn or ask the benefits (i.e: back pay) that you will get when you resign.
●Return / turn over all the things that belongs to the company that  you are using such as IDs, keys, documents, and uniforms among others.
IT IS IMPORTANT TO LEAVE THE COMPANY IN GOOD STANDING!
